Manchester City put four past Bournemouth without reply at the Etihad, with Erling Haaland grabbing a first-half opener and adding a second early in the second period for his customary brace. Rayan Cherki, still finding his feet in England, chipped in with a well-taken third before Phil Foden rounded things off late on. It was a statement of intent from City, who barely got out of first gear all afternoon, while Bournemouth never really got a foothold in the game. 1This is the first Manchester City season since 2015-16 without Pep Guardiola in the dugout. He stepped down in the summer after a decade that redefined the club, and Enzo Maresca has come in as his permanent successor on a three-year deal.

1Bournemouth have a new man in the dugout — Marco Rose replaced Andoni Iraola this summer after Iraola left to take the Liverpool job. Big shoes to fill: Iraola had the Cherries playing some of the best football outside the traditional top six.
